The Orissa state tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employments Act, 2000 (commonly know as Profession Tax Act) came into force with the object of levying tax on professions, trades, callings and employments. It extends to the whole state of Odisha.

Note :- Professional Tax will be payable @ Rs. 200 for first 11 months and Rs. 300 in the last month.
THE ORISSA STATE TAX ON PROFESSIONS, TRADES,CALLINGS AND EMPLOYMENTS ACT, 2000
AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF TAX ON PROFESSIONS, TRADES, CALLINGS AND EMPLOYMENTS AND FOR MATTERS CONNECTED THEREWITH OR INCIDENTAL THERETO.
BE it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Orissa in the Fifty-first Year of the Republic of India as follows:-
1. (1) This Act may be called the Orissa State Tax on Professions, Trades,Callings and Employments Act, 2000.
(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Orissa.
(3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by
notification, appoint.
