The Haryana Minimum Wages Rules, 1950

The state of Haryana is following the Punjab Minimum Wages Rules, 1950. The  Minimum Wages Act, 1948 provides for fixing minimum rates of wages in certain employments, which are included in the schedule. Punjab Government has enacted the Punjab Minimum Wages Rules, 1950 for the effective administration and monitoring of Minimum Wages Act, 1948.

Applicability

  • The Act applies to the schedule of employment for which minimum wages are fixed/revised. 
  • Every employer shall pay the minimum wages for the scheduled employments under this Act. There is provision to fix hours of work, overtime, and wages for overtime.
  • Variable DA is fixed based on Consumer Price Index of the previous calendar year.  
  • Minimum wages are fixed in Punjab on the advice of the State Level Minimum Wages Advisory Board.
