Memorandum regarding Registration of Shops and Establishment in Tripura

The Government of Tripura has issued a memorandum to comply with the purpose of Ease of doing Business in the State. In accordance with the same, no shopkeeper or employer is required to apply for registration of his shop or establishment under this Act.

The Section 16(1) of The Tripura Shops and Establishments Act,1970 provides that every shopkeeper or employer shall apply for registration of his shop or establishment under this Act and Section 16(6) of the Tripura Shops and Establishments Act, 1970 provides that every shopkeeper or employer shall apply for renewal of the certificate of registration of his shop or establishment afler the expiry of three years from the date of issue of the certificate of registration.

The State Government has deleted the Section 16 of The Tripura Shops and Establishments Act, 1970 (referred to as the Principal Act) vide The Tripura Shops and Establishments (Fifth Amendment) Act, 2021 (Notification No.F 8(3)Lawr Leg-ll2O21 (P) Dated. Agartala the 15rh Mtay, 2021) to comply with the purpose of Ease of doing Business in the State.

Henceforth, no shopkeeper or employer is required to apply for registration of his shop or establishment under this Act.

The Amendment rs still prevalent in the State of Tripura.
