EPFO Message on mandatory Aadhar seeding of contributory members

The Central Government vide notification no. CGDL-E-04052021-226829 dated 03 May 2021 has brought Section 142 of the Code on Social Security, 2020 into force.

As per section 142, any employee or unorganized worker shall establish his/her identity, identity of the family members or dependants and avail:

1. registration as a member or beneficiary; or
2. benefit in kind, cash; or
3. medical sickness benefit;or
4. pension; or
5. gratuity; or
6. maternity benefit; or
7. any other benefits; or
8. withdrawal of fund; or
9. services of career centre; or 10.any payment or medical attendance as insured person himself/herself or for dependants.

The above listed benefits can be availed by establishing the identity through Aadhar Number seeding.

Therefore, the EPFO has published a message to the employers mandating the Aadhar seeding and UAN verification of its contributory members with effect from 01 June 2021 in order to file the ECR.
