Recruit and Retain Top Talent in 2023: Trends, Tips & Tools

The world of work is ever-changing and evolving. The pandemic has accelerated digital transformation and changed the employee-employer relationship for good. We see new HR trends emerge almost every day.

What will be the recruitment and retention trends in 2023? What are the L&D strategies that are likely to help engage and retain top talent in 2023?

We invited Vikas Maheshwary, Head, Global HR Transformation, Biocon Biologics, to a Parichay webinar, and he was kind enough to oblige. The outcome? He offered precise answers to our questions and the takeaways were valuable.

In this blog post, we examine some recruitment & retention trends and strategies expected to make waves in 2023.

Remote & hybrid work will take centre stage in the future of work. Studies show that many organisations have added flexibility as a key component in their employee value proposition. They are also adding it in their job descriptions to woo new candidates who prefer organisations that trust them.

Internal mobility is going to take a front seat. Traditionally, IJPs were made for leadership roles. But now they are being used for all roles since they help optimise time and costs, while also improving employee retention. Put simply, it is a smarter way for HR to place the right person in the right job.

Proactive candidate engagement helps recruiters engage with passive but prospective candidates. This enables them to create a lead funnel so they always have someone to talk to when vacancies arise.

Intelligent automation is the in-thing now. It goes beyond mere task automation. It makes processes, like recruitment, smarter by simplifying complex processes. Intelligent automation is about leveraging the combined power of multiple technologies to make it happen.

“Metaverse, blockchain, employee experience redesign, hyper-personalisation and organisational network analysis were some of last year’s buzzwords. No doubt these are disruptive. But they are also pivotal to make HR future-ready.”
Vikas Maheshwary, Head, Global HR Transformation, Biocon Biologics

Predictive analytics is about analysing historical data and identifying patterns for predicting the future. When there’s more certainty, recruiters can hire better people faster. Besides offering a good hiring experience, the technology can also help predict the performance of the proposed hire.

Concluding notes

HR has to adopt tech and marketing in a much bigger way to recruit and retain top talent in 2023. They also have to use the right online platforms to appeal to the best candidates in the right manner. L&D will work closely with other departments to create customised programs for employees. What’s more? Virtual communication and collaboration will become more effective.
