The Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1972, excluded people in supervisory category, drawing wages exceeding three thousand and five hundred rupees per mensem from the application of the said Act. This ceiling limit was fixed in the year 1997. Now, since the wages have gone up, many supervisory staff are excluded from the purview of the above Act.
The Government of Tamil Nadu has decided to introduce a Bill to amend the Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1972. The Bill will have the following amendments:
In section 2 of the Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1972, in clause (b), in sub-clause (i), in item (b), for the expression “draws wages exceeding three thousand and five hundred rupees per mensem”, the expression “draws wages exceeding fifteen thousand rupees per mensem” shall be substituted.
